Whole Parish Faith Formation, such as "Gather in My Name", is a religious education/formation program that centers religious education in the family. The program is built around parish catechetical assemblies, supplemented by age specific group learning and activities, and requires and enables families to pray, celebrate and share their faith with each other.
Whole Parish Faith Formation emphasizes the role of parents as the first and best teachers of their children, the role of the family as the domestic Church, life-long learning using the “apprenticeship” model, the intergenerational commitment of parishes and incorporating the liturgical year into all aspects of Catholic life.
St. Monica's is excited to begin a 3-year transition to Whole Parish Faith Formation. This first year we will:
1. Keep our current religious education model, but incorporate the homework and family prayer activities into lesson plans
2. Schedule and present four parish assemblies:
|
Sept 19 Whole Parish Faith Formation – Ordinary Time Nov 28 Whole Parish Faith Formation - Advent |
Mar 13 Whole Parish Faith Formation- Lent May 22 Whole Parish Faith Formation- Pentecost |
3.
Create Questions of the
Week for the entire year, beginning with the start of the catechetical year, publishing
these in parish bulletins and incorporating them into parish events.
